German submarine ''U-582'' was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's ''Kriegsmarine'' during World War II. She carried out four patrols, sank six ships of and sank a warship of 46 tons (lost aboard a transport ship). The boat was sunk by depth charges from a US aircraft, southwest of Iceland, in October 1942. ==Design== German Type VIIC submarines were preceded by the shorter Type VIIB submarines.
